The State Park provides opportunities for Hiking, Lodging, Camping, Fishing, Swimming and Picnicking. Myrtle Beach Hotels and Ocean-front Condos get booked throughout the summer and it can be expensive. Whereas, you could easily make reservations for camping and have fun at Myrtle Beach State Park. The Park is located right next to Myrtle Beach Airport and you get to enjoy the view of planes. You can hike the many trails through the woodlands or swim at the beach or try your luck at fishing. Horse Back Riding and Biking is also popular the park.

The State Park is open to the public all days of the week. There is an entrance fee of $5 per adult. you can reserve Picnic Shelters at the park. The Park has Changing Rooms and Rest Rooms. We visited Myrtle Beach Day Park one afternoon but we stayed at an Ocean-Front Condo in North Myrtle Beach.

The beach gets crowded when cruise ships are in town. Coki Beach is located right next to Coral World Marine Park. The beach has changing rooms and rest rooms. Street Vendors and Stalls are located right on the beach and you can get food, snacks, massages, hair braiding and what not. The locals will often try to sell you anything from rental chairs to drinks. There is a dive shop on Coki Beach. Grab a few fish bones and you are all set for snorkeling. Do not forget your underwater camera.

We enjoyed Coki Beach so much. It was the best snorkeling experience we had. We got to see so many fish really close. Some people complain about the locals but we had a good experience.

The Beaches of South Carolina are very popular and large crowds can be soon on the beach during Holiday Weekends. Myrtle Beach is the place to hang out with family and friends. North Myrtle Beach is less touristy and you can find beautiful villas and condos for rent. Calabash, the Seafood Capital of the South is very close to North Myrtle Beach. These English colonists erected a Wooden Cross to mark their safe arrival and named the place Cape Henry. In 1935, a granite Cross was erected by the National Society Daughters of the American Colonists, in memory of the wooden cross erected by the English colonists in 1607. This cross is named Cape Henry Memorial Cross.

There is a statue of Admiral Comte deGrasse here at Cape Henry coast. The admiral led the French Fleet in the Battle of the Capes which resulted in America’s victory at Yorktown and the end of the American Revolutionary War.

Cape Henry Memorial is a part of the National Park System. There are two light houses which can be seen from this location – the old and new Cape Henry Lighthouses. There is a walkway which leads to the top of the dunes and you enjoy stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay. There is another walkway just to the south of the Cape Henry Memorial and you can walk down to the beach and enjoy the waves breaking upon the shore. The memorial is open all year without an admission fee. You need to pass through the security gates of Fort Story, and you need to have Photos Ids to visit the Memorial.

The Chesapeake Bay, Resort Area and Sandbridge make up 35 miles of Virginia Beach’s beloved coastline. The Resort Area has a bustling 3 mile long boardwalk with lots of cafes and live music. Chesapeake Bay beach is more tranquil and the perfect place to relax. Sandbridge shoreline is secluded and has many ocean view rentals.

Virginia Beach is the perfect place for a Sumner Vacation with family. There are many attractions like State Parks, Aquarium, Museums and so on.

There are 2 Scneic Overlooks where drivers may stop to enjoy the views of the Atlantic – at the north end of the bridge and at Sea Gull Island, near the south end. At Sea Gull Island, passing ships may include U.S. Navy warships, nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, as well as large cargo vessels and sailing ships. The CBBT authority runs a restaurant and gift shop on the island. Fishing is encouraged from the 625-foot (191 m)-long pier, which is open 24 hours a day, year-round. Restrooms, fish-cleaning stations and a certified weighing station are at the pier.

Beaches of South Carolina

South Carolina is bordered by Atlantic Ocean on its east. The climate is humid and sub tropical. The major cities of South Carolina are Charleston, Greenville and Columbia. South Carolina’s beaches are among the finest in the US. The Coasts of South Carolina are classified from North To South as follows:-

1. Myrtle Beach and The Grand Strand
2. Historic Charleston
3. Low Country & Resort Islands

Myrtle Beach and The Grand Strand Beaches
The Grand Strand is home to an array of tourist attractions, and the area receives a large influx of visitors during the spring, summer and fall months, and “snowbirds” in the winter. It spans 60 miles of white sand beaches. The area’s attractions include its beaches and many golf courses, as well as a number of amusement parks, an aquarium, many restaurants and shopping complexes.

1. Garden City Beach – has access to both Ocean and inlet. It is great for fishing crabbing and water sports. The majority of vacationers stay in beach houses or condos, and the community offers a marina, amusements, restaurants, a fishing pier
   
2. Litchfield Beach - quiet and reserved when compared to Myrtle Beach. It has world class golf courses.
   
3. Little River – It is a unique town offering slightly slower pace than rest of the Grand Strand.
4. Murrells Inlet - historic fishing village and is known as the “Seafood Capital of South Carolina”. Murrells Inlet offers many recreational activities in a breathtaking inlet setting, including deep sea fishing charters, boat tours, individual boat rentals, scuba diving, kayaking, parasailing and jet skiing.
   
5. Myrtle Beach - The Hub of the Grand Strand and the Golf Capital of USA with over 250 golf courses.
   
6. North Myrtle Beach
7. Pawleys Island – heavily developed with 4 miles of beach and has classic style beach homes available for rental.
   
8. Surfside Beach – lovely residential community and thriving vacation destination. There are beach houses, condos, restaurants and a fishing pier along the ocean front.
   

Charleston

The Historic city of Charleston has lot of charm and beauty. It is well known for it’s tranquil beaches

1. Folly Beach – closest beach to Charleston and is a great place with a Fishing Pier and Light House.
2. Isle of Palms – Wild Dunes Resort is on the northern tip of the Island. Rest of the island is accessible to public and there are many sea side hotels and vacation rentals.
3. Kiawah Island – Kiawah Island is a beach and golf resort located on a barrier island. It is a major tourist site and has expensive villas, premier golf courses and beautiful beaches.
4. Seabrook Island - Private Beach and is accessible by Island Resorts.
   
5. Bull Island – It is part of Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge. It is accessible by Passenger Ferry.

Lowcountry Beaches

Lowcountry is located along the southern most region of Coastal South Carolina. It also includes the Sea Islands of South Carolina. Sea Island are barrier islands on the Atlantic Ocean. The evolution of the modern day resort community was pioneered at Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island in the 1950s. The area is well known for golf, tennis and beach vacations.

1. Edisto Island – Edisto Island is home to Edisto Beach, and Wyndham Timeshare resorts.
2. Hilton Head Island – 12 miles of beach with many private resorts and public access to beaches.
   
3. Hunting Island - 4 miles of beachfront along the Atlantic. It is the most visited State park in SC. Accommodations are available for Recreational Vehicles and Tent Campers.
   
4. Fripp Island – 3 miles of beach front along Atlantic. It is relatively uncrowded in comparison to Hilton Head Island. It is a private, gated community.
